X2O Media Announces X2O(TM), a New Enterprise Communication Platform for Delivering Real-Time Information to Any Screen, Anywhere

New Product Allows Companies to Use SharePoint and Other Content Sources to Quickly and Easily Build Employee TV Channels and Send Real-Time Messages to Desktops, Mobile Devices, Digital Signage Screens, and Interactive Kiosks

MONTREAL -- (Marketwire) -- 10/19/09 -- X2O Media, a leading provider of digital signage solutions, today announced a new enterprise communication platform that allows businesses and organizations to distribute real-time messages to multiple screens throughout their network, greatly improving the effectiveness and reach of employee communications. With X2O, business executives, marketing communications staff, and human resources professionals can quickly and easily display Microsoft® SharePoint® content in the form of desktop TV channels, scrolling news feeds, or data-driven screen savers on employee desktops, mobile devices, digital signage displays, and interactive kiosks, using the same tools to manage content on all screens. X2O goes beyond basic streaming video by allowing users to create customized information channels combining dynamic graphics, animations, video, and live data in a visually stunning format that resembles what viewers are used to seeing on network television.

X2O Media created the X2O enterprise communication platform to address the growing demand by organizations for better employee communications. By using SharePoint tools and other internal content sources, X2O builds on processes already in place, effectively extending the reach of current approaches to target any or all employees within the organization in a timely fashion. The X2O platform can be used to send real-time company messages or emergency alerts, graphical dashboard data, live news feeds, and video content to one or multiple channels. Content can be sent to any number of screens simultaneously, allowing targeting of messages to the right person, at the right time, in the right place. Information on upcoming events, company announcements, schedules, and business dashboard data is automatically formatted and displayed as high-end, broadcast-quality graphics on employee desktops and mobile devices.

Widely adopted by a variety of companies to meet their internal communication needs, Microsoft's SharePoint is an integrated suite of server capabilities for enterprise-wide content management. Over 17,000 companies and 100 million people use SharePoint daily. A recent report by market researcher IDC found 61 percent of users surveyed were deploying SharePoint enterprise-wide. Another 28 percent using SharePoint in departments are expected to expand usage to the enterprise within 12 months. And three-quarters of the Fortune 100 now have SharePoint.

"We are excited to introduce this new functionality to the business world, which will dramatically improve internal communications," said David Wilkins, X2O Media President and CEO. "For corporations, the link to SharePoint acts much like a live data link to a database, Web site, or other source. Once content is updated in SharePoint, it is automatically updated throughout the entire X2O network. This 'push' concept can be used to build a SharePoint TV network with hundreds or thousands of personalized screens displaying real-time information, anywhere in the world."

X2O Media's new enterprise communications platform will be on display in booth 906 at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference from Oct. 19-22 in Las Vegas. For more information on X2O, visit www.x2omedia.com or contact [email protected].

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing.
