NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/06/12 -- Information Builders, a leader in business intelligence (BI) and analytics, information integrity, and integration solutions, today announced that in a broad survey of organizations using BI software products, it was ranked highest on numerous key performance indicators (KPIs) across multiple peer groups. The BI Survey 12 included Information Builders in four peer groups -- BI Giants, Large Enterprise Reporting Vendor, Dashboard Vendor, and Large Enterprise Projects Vendor -- and noted the company for besting the competition in lowest cost per seat and performance satisfaction in each category. Conducted by German-based Business Application Research Center (BARC), the report is the world's largest independent survey of business intelligence and performance management users, with 2,775 respondents.
Information Builders' BI platform, WebFOCUS, was recognized for its scalability, which enables companies to run a high number of users and manage a large volume of data. In the BI Giants category, Information Builders ranked higher on scalability than its competitors, according to the BARC report. Information Builders was also ranked highest in the BI Giants category in strategic selection, beating out much larger vendors such as Oracle and IBM Cognos. The company also received the highest score among BI Giants on the vendor support KPI, with the survey highlighting Information Builders' solid worldwide presence as the reason for its strength in this area.
In the Large Enterprise Reporting Vendor category Information Builders received the highest ranking in self-service BI. The company's intuitive, flexible technology makes it easy for even non-technical users to run reports, create charts and dashboards, and make more informed decisions as a result of improved access to real-time data. In addition, its flexible toolset allows users to develop individual BI applications -- a feature that contributed to Information Builders' leading rank in agility in the Large Enterprise Reporting Vendor category. In the Dashboard Vendor category, Information Builders ranked high in cost effectiveness, and as a leading vendor in big data, performance, and implementer support. In the Large Enterprise Projects Vendor category, Information Builders received the highest rankings in performance, strategic selection, and cost.
"Information Builders has proven itself time and again as a company committed to innovating its product line to keep pace with changing business needs, and this is a key factor in its ongoing high rankings in the BI Survey," said Melanie Mack, co-author of the BI Survey. "The company is also notable for the large number of platforms it supports and for the impressive number of users it can handle; criteria I believe will continue to strengthen its position in the industry."
"Information Builders' high ranking across numerous peer groups and KPIs in the BI Survey demonstrates the advantage of offering integrated data quality and integration solutions with our BI platform," said Gerald Cohen, CEO and president of Information Builders. "As organizations of all sizes continue to grapple with increasing amounts of data, we're confident in our ability to help them operationalize a wide variety of information assets -- both inside and outside the firewall -- at an affordable price point."
