Openwave Mobility Deploys NetSuite OneWorld Services Resource Planning (SRP) Across 15 Subsidiaries In 18 Countries

Global Leader Moves from On-Premise ERP to Cloud NetSuite in Only 2.5 Months

SAN MATEO, Calif. and REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- NetSuite Inc. (NYSE: N), the industry's leading provider of cloud-based financials / ERP software suites, and Openwave Mobility, a global software innovator of value-added services for the mobile telecommunications industry, announced today that Openwave Mobility has gone live on NetSuite OneWorld Services Resource Planning (SRP) for global professional services automation (PSA) after a rapid implementation achieved in just 2½ months. Openwave Mobility relies on NetSuite OneWorld SRP for global management of financial consolidation, revenue recognition, accounting across multiple currencies, subsidiaries, geographies and tax jurisdictions, as well as project management and resource management in real-time. NetSuite OneWorld SRP gives Openwave Mobility the speed of implementation, agility and flexibility it needs to manage 15 subsidiaries in 18 countries across North America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and Australia while having control and visibility for its services businesses.

In the Openwave Mobility roll-out, NetSuite Professional Services led an accelerated implementation to deploy the NetSuite cloud technology as the business foundation. Openwave Mobility had a tight timeline. Marlin Equity Partners had acquired the company in early May, and under terms of the acquisition, Openwave Mobility had a limited timeframe to migrate legacy data from an Oracle ERP instance to a new financials /ERP solution. The 2½-month NetSuite implementation was accomplished in roughly one-quarter the time that would have been required to deploy a comparable on-premise ERP system, while avoiding a large up-front capital investment and ongoing maintenance costs of in-house servers, software and storage.

After an evaluation against a competing solution from Epicor, Openwave Mobility selected NetSuite as the cloud platform best suited to quickly implement an integrated business solution tailored to the software industry, with functionality including revenue recognition to streamline accounting of multi-element and deferred revenue sales. Building on core NetSuite capabilities for financials / ERP, the company deployed NetSuite OneWorld SRP to manage global subsidiaries, gaining powerful capabilities for optimize the services business, speed global financial consolidation and achieve real-time visibility into subsidiary services performance. Additionally, NetSuite OneWorld SRP equips Openwave Mobility with capabilities for project management, time and expense reporting, invoicing and resource utilization that are far more efficient and automated than was possible with the pre-acquisition system of Microsoft Project, Exchange and Excel.

"NetSuite proved the ideal solution to meet our unique needs for cloud financials / ERP tailored to the software industry, along with multi-subsidiary management and services resource planning on a global scale," said Kelly Sharpe, CFO, Openwave Mobility. "We now have the tools we need to grow the business. Implementation in just 2½ months is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the Openwave Mobility and NetSuite teams."

"This rapid implementation depended on clear goals, decisiveness and collaboration on the part of both Openwave Mobility and NetSuite Professional Services. Each team executed extremely well," said Tim Dilley, EVP Worldwide Services and Chief Customer Officer at NetSuite. "I'm gratified that we could leverage the deep experience and vertical expertise of our consultants to meet a very aggressive timeline with a complex scope."

Today, more than 12,000 companies and subsidiaries depend on NetSuite to run complex, mission-critical business processes globally in the cloud. Since its inception in 1998, NetSuite has established itself as the leading provider of enterprise-class cloud financials/ERP suites for divisions of large enterprises and mid-sized organizations seeking to upgrade their antiquated client/server ERP systems. NetSuite excels at streamlining business operations as demonstrated in a recent Gartner study naming NetSuite as the fastest growing top 10 financial management systems vendor in the world. NetSuite continues its success in delivering the best cloud ERP/financials suites to businesses around the world, enabling them to lower IT costs significantly while increasing productivity, as the global adoption of the cloud is accelerating.

I wanted to gather all of my Internet of Things (IOT) blogs into a single blog (that I could later use with my University of San Francisco (USF) Big Data “MBA” course). However as I started to pull these blogs together, I realized that my IOT discussion lacked a vision; it lacked an end point towards which an organization could drive their IOT envisioning, proof of value, app dev, data engineering and data science efforts. And I think that the IOT end point is really quite simple…
