SRA to Support Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Financial Accounting System

SRA International, Inc., a leading provider of technology and strategic consulting services and solutions to government organizations, today announced it has received a contract award to provide support for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Health Care Integrated General Ledger Accounting System (HIGLAS). The five-year contract carries a value of more than $92 million if all options are exercised.

HHS is the principal agency responsible for protecting the health of U.S. Americans. As part of that mission, the CMS administers the nation’s Medicare program, providing both health care assurance and choice for aged and disabled citizens. Together with state governments, CMS also administers the Medicaid program and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).

HIGLAS is the system of record for financial management and reporting, and tracks each Medicare claim, financial transaction, grant and administrative payment. As a mission-critical system, HIGLAS processes more than five million transactions per day, accounting for over $700 billion in Fiscal Year 2011.

Under the contract award, SRA will provide operations and maintenance support for CMS’s Oracle Federal Financials System, as well as support for potential enhancements, including integration of business process reengineering and new functionality mandated by the Affordable Care Act.
