SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/04/12 -- AppDirect, the leading cloud service marketplace company, announced today the launch of the AppDirect Developer Incubator (ADI) program, a new initiative designed to give software developers hands-on experience and expert guidance to help them launch their own startup companies and become successful entrepreneurs. Open to candidates worldwide, the ADI offers talented developers a unique opportunity to build their skills and advance their careers while learning to navigate the fast-paced, increasingly competitive startup sector.
"At AppDirect, engineering is the backbone of everything we do. That's why we're thrilled to launch the AppDirect Developer Incubator program," said Daniel Saks, President and Co-CEO of AppDirect. "The program is a unique, innovative way to engage developers and give them a risk-free opportunity to pursue their dream of launching their own startups. We not only want to work with great engineers, but also enable them to make the jump from developer to entrepreneur."
Unlike other incubator programs, the ADI allows software developers to apply the technology and business skills they learn while working at AppDirect directly to their own startup projects. To become part of the program, candidates must pass a skills-based assessment and complete the AppDirect hiring process. Developers will then spend two and a half years working as a core member of the AppDirect engineering team. In year three, top performers will be eligible to receive seed funding, continued salary, and an incubator environment that includes office space and the opportunity to pitch VCs.
As part of the ADI program, developers can benefit from a range of other opportunities for technical and career advancement. Engineers can learn revolutionary technologies while solving new challenges around identity and access management, distributed deployments, delegated billing and more. In addition, program participants can gain insight into every aspect of how a software company operates, including management, finance, business development, marketing, product and sales.
"AppDirect is a great place to be an engineer. Not only do we have a front seat to the revolution in how businesses are using software, but we create solutions that have a real, positive impact on millions of people around the globe," said Andy Sen, Senior Vice President of Engineering at AppDirect. "For developers, the ADI program is a great way to gain technical and business experience all while working with an expert team that knows how to deliver industry-leading solutions and have a lot of fun."
The ADI is open to skilled software developers with all levels of experience, from those just starting out to seasoned engineers. In general, AppDirect is seeking back-end candidates who are proficient in Java and SQL, and have the ability to integrate a web application. For front-end candidates, AppDirect is looking for individuals with knowledge of JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5. Travel reimbursement, relocation assistance, visa sponsorship, and other benefits are available to participants.
A profitable, rapidly growing company, AppDirect has assembled a world-class team that includes engineers from Google, Oracle, Salesforce, Cisco, and other industry leaders, as well as business experts from top consulting firms and MBA programs. This expertise has enabled AppDirect to become the leading cloud service marketplace company, connecting millions of businesses to service providers and developers through a global network of branded marketplaces.
