VIENNA, Va., Dec. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Last night in New York City, the largest Hispanic-Owned IT Integrator in the U.S., MicroTech, participated with the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) in presenting the Eisenhower Global Leadership Award to Carlos Slim Halu, the Mexican business magnate, investor, and philanthropist, who has been ranked as Forbes Magazine's richest person in the world since 2010.
Mr. Slim is presently the Chairman and Chief Executive of well-known companies such as GRUPO CARSO (industry, retail commercial, infrastructure, and construction), GRUPO FINANCIERO INBURSA (finance), INMUEBLES CARSO (real estate, shopping centers, hospitality, medical centers, etc.), AMERICA MOVIL (telecommunications) with presence in 30 countries, IDEAL (infrastructure), and MINERA FRISCO (mining). He was recognized for his numerous contributions and leadership in advocating for private enterprise and democracy, as they relate to freedom, prosperity, and peace. The event was held at the luxurious Plaza Hotel and featured television host Larry King as the Master of Ceremonies. The award was presented by 2011 honoree Sergio Marchionne, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chrysler Group LLC, Chief Executive Officer of Fiat S.p.A., as well as Chairman of Fiat Industrial S.p.A. and CNH Global N.V. (CNH).
The BCIU, a U.S. non-profit business association, has over fifty-seven years of experience promoting universal discussion and providing a space for senior business executives and government officials to engage in professional discourse about private and public sector problems and opportunities.
The event was part of MicroTech's recently announced IT business expansion into Latin America. MicroTech's President and CEO, Tony Jimenez, was joined by Tomas Esterrich, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of MicroTech International, and Tim Dioquino, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure, Cloud, and Mobility. Additionally, MicroTech partnered with fellow IT provider CA Technologies and was joined by Roger Pilc, Corporate Senior Vice President and General Manager responsible for the CA's Infrastructure Management and Data Center Automation business unit; Adam Famularo, General Manager of Enterprise and Cloud Solutions; Roy Borden, Vice President, Partner Sales; and Rob Davies, Vice President, Public Sector Services.
"To say Carlos' recognition for his sustained exemplary international business leadership is well-deserved, is an understatement," remarked Jimenez. "This is the preeminent role model for how to do it right. He has truly made a positive and enduring impact and has achieved it on a global scale."
Yesterday, MicroTech also hosted a high level delegation, from nine states from Brazil at their corporate headquarters in Tysons Corner, Va.
