How to Monitor Your Online Presence This Summer from JW Maxx Solutions

As summer approaches, knowing how to monitor your online presence is more important than ever. Although it is not difficult to do so, it does require some commitment of time and effort. JW Maxx Solutions offers expert advice to those looking to track this

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., June 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- When considering how to monitor your online presence, the most important thing to consider is how people will access information about an individual company.   Search engines, especially Google, but also Yahoo! Bing and others continue to be popular ways to gather information about high-profile individuals, large companies, or national organizations.  Setting up a Google Alerts account will allow businesses and individuals to track new online content about them.  This will allow them to respond quickly should significant amounts of negative information appear.

While keeping track of new information is important, so is being aware that the ways the search engines rank pages constantly evolves.  Top pages in search results one day may be buried several pages into the results the next if a search engine decides to change its algorithm.   Because of this, it is important for businesses and individuals to conduct frequent searches of their names, as well as their names with common search terms, such as "scam", "bad reviews", and "negative reviews".  You should conduct these searches at least monthly, but preferably every week or two.

For those seriously learning how to monitor your online presence, they must have to look at social media.  Increased public awareness of fake online reviews, combined with the rise of social media, has resulted in many people turning away from searches as a means of getting reliable information.  Monitoring personal and company pages on at least a weekly, if not daily, basis can help businesses, and individuals to respond quickly if negative information is posted thereon.  Using the search tool on the Social Mention site will also inform them when their name is mentioned publicly on those sites.

Finally, any discussion of how to monitor your online presence would not be complete without the inclusion of one of the fastest rising sites, Pinterest.   Pinterest can be very powerful because it can create positive or negative memes about a company or individual quickly and simply.  They can be widely shared and viewed more than videos or articles because, unlike videos, they do not take time to load, and unlike articles, they can be read in whole at a glance.  To see if a site has been "pinned", a company may use "pinterest.com/source/companyurl".

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
