Sheetster.com: A Free Online Web Spreadsheet From Java Development Company Extentech

Beta Version of Sheetster, a Free Online Web-Based Spreadsheet Released

Extentech Inc., a leading developer of Java components and development tools, released the beta version of Sheetster, a free online web-based spreadsheet. Sheetster allows organizations, developers, and spreadsheet power users to leverage their existing spreadsheets with sharing, security control, and subscription to individual cells using RSS.

Sheetster is a Web spreadsheet based on mature J2EE spreadsheet technology—the ExtenXLS API from Extentech. Spreadsheet users can export and import to Excel files, securely track and share lists, and embed spreadsheets in BLOGs and Websites. Sheetster provides spreadsheet users the tools utilize existing spreadsheets in a secure access controlled environment.

"Sheetster.com brings the power of live data to the world of collaborative, Web-Based spreadsheets. With a powerful Web API, you can upload your spreadsheets and then access the formula logic using simple web requests, "states John McMahon, CEO of Extentech Inc. and lead developer of Sheetster." Spreadsheet technology has seen little innovation in the past 15-years. After years of listening to our customers, we identified the need for a web spreadsheet platform to be the foundation for use cases not currently possible in desktop applications. With advances such as RSXLS, web services API, the ability to load shared spreadsheets over HTTP in Java applications, and much more, Sheetster is the cornerstone of a new generation of spreadsheet applications."

Sheetster offers advanced features such as sharing among user-specified groups and version control. Version control supplies a history of spreadsheet changes, a feature that is particularly useful to track spreadsheet modifications and updates among multiple users. Sheetster spreadsheets can easily be accessed and verified as up-to-date, allowing users to retain control of spreadsheet revisions while eliminating the possibility of data loss.

Sheetster comes with a host of publicly available spreadsheet templates. Spreadsheet users can save time by using a spreadsheet template or download one of the Hot Sheets—the most popular spreadsheets tested and rated superior by Sheetster. Sheetster supports more than 180 formulas and imports and exports to true Excel files. Sheetster is free and is available online at www.sheetster.com. When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things').
