Keross Named in Gartner’s Cool Vendors in Emerging Markets 2014 Report

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Keross, a UAE based software development company dedicated to creating unique IT service support management (ITSSM) solutions, was named in Gartner’s Cool Vendors in Emerging Markets 2014 report. The yearly report, which is one of the industry’s most anticipated market analysis studies, identified Keross as one of five international technologies in their respective category.

The team behind Keross, which has been in operation since 2006, have developed a powerful platform called Ikon, built to optimise operational insights through a suit of programmes designed to provide key decision makers with a 360 degree view. With a focus on collaboration, co-relation, integration, communication, resource optimisation and efficiency, Ikon can be used as a stand-alone solution or as part of existing software from providers such as Oracle, IBM and SAP to name but a few.

With businesses increasingly looking to get the best out of existing IT investment, the development team behind Keross have been committed to creating a flexible, seamless solution that enhances the IT function and communicates insights to non-IT management. The easy to use software includes auditing features, contract management capabilities, asset management and documents management, along with portal generation capabilities.

Founder and CEO of Keross, Farouk Said, commented, “The idea of Ikon came about a few years ago when I saw businesses investing significant amounts into building their IT infrastructures, yet lacked foundational insight to their existing IT landscape. This is more apparent in emerging markets where businesses are under pressure to set up and get productive quickly.”

He continued, “Before launching into a major investment, I would advise any organisation, large or small, to first understand what they own in terms of assets and contracts and how these impact on the organisation’s bottom line. Arm yourself with IT insights and build these into long-term business strategy. This is why Ikon was developed – to help organisations benefit from comprehensive evaluation and data management soluitons in formats that are universally accessible through a platform that can easily integrate with existing technologies. For Keross, being recognised by Gartner in their Cool Vendors report is a fantastic milestone, and we look forward to supporting more businesses with Ikon.”

New technologies coming out of emerging markets signify the way forward for IT, and Keross is very much at the nexus of this trend as identified by Gartner. Putting the UAE in the spotlight for its innovation in IT, Keross provides solutions for customers all around the world.

The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
