ScaleBase Joins Rackspace Marketplace to Provide Distributed Database Built on MySQL

ScaleBase today announced that it has joined the Marketplace for Rackspace® Hosting (NYSE: RAX), the open cloud company, to provide companies a simple way to move their applications to the cloud and help avoid the challenges of managing a large and growing database in the cloud. Adding ScaleBase to the Rackspace Marketplace ecosystem gives businesses access to a solution that distributes a single database into smaller ones, facilitating an easy move to the cloud.

“The Marketplace is designed to help our customers solve many of the problems associated with moving their business to cloud, such as migrating a growing database,” said John Engates, chief technology officer at Rackspace. “With the addition of ScaleBase to the Marketplace, Rackspace customers that are migrating applications to the cloud can leverage a solution that distributes a single MySQL database into smaller, more manageable ones.”

Countless apps are pushing the scalability limitations of a single MySQL instance, and require a distributed database to accommodate growth and avoid downtime or disruption. ScaleBase enables companies to scale out to an unlimited number of users and transactions by quickly creating a data distribution policy customized for the application.

ScaleBase Version 3.0, released earlier this year, is a modern, distributed MySQL database, built for virtualized environments and optimized for Rackspace cloud. Some of the benefits ScaleBase can deliver to Rackspace customers include:

  • Simple deployment: no code changes to the application or disruption to the MySQL infrastructure
  • Unlimited scale: move instantly beyond the throughput limitations of a single MySQL instance
  • Instant results: your distributed database is up and running in seconds
  • Increased ROI: ability to tune your machine size and database needs to achieve the optimal cost balance

“We are pleased to offer our product on the Rackspace Marketplace," stated Paul Campaniello, vice president of marketing at ScaleBase. "Customers can now leverage the cloud benefits of Rackspace along with a distributed database platform built for virtualized environments and optimized for the cloud."

IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through.
