Zags Continues to Build Executive Team with New U.S.-Based CMO and CFO

Zags (formerly Insurance Global Operations (IGO)), a solution provider of core processing systems for the P&C and Life insurance markets, today announced the expansion of its executive team with the addition of Yancy Oshita as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Gary Traynor as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The appointments of the new U.S.-based executives follows Zags’ recent headquarters move from Paris, France to New York to best serve the company’s global growth strategy.

Since first announcing its North American market expansion in June, 2013, the company has aggressively continued its product development, while engaging and implementing the early adopters of its Zags solution -- the industry’s only collaborative insurance administration platform. With its early market success and validation of the Zags solution, combined with the move to the U.S. and $30 million in new funding, Zags is now putting its corporate structure in place to drive the company’s aggressive marketing and growth plans.

In his role as CMO, Yancy Oshita will spearhead the company’s overall go-to-market strategies and initiatives to fuel the company’s aggressive growth plans. Oshita’s experience with and unique insights into business intelligence will be especially valuable to Zags, as effectively leveraging data and employing strong analytics are key elements of Zags’ value proposition. He brings to Zags over 20 years of software marketing and product management experience. In addition to founding DemandIT, a consulting firm which specialized in developing and deploying go-to-market strategies and executables for start-up technology companies, Oshita was most recently head of Americas marketing at AppSense, a global provider of unified workspace management solutions. Earlier in his carrier, Oshita held a number of CMO and executive marketing positions with a rich mix of venture-backed and public organizations, including Wimba, Oracle and Teradata. Oshita earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Marketing from California State University and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton.

Gary Traynor joins Zags as CFO with over 20 years of experience as a technology investment banker and executive leader in venture-backed start-up organizations. Traynor offers a wealth of experience in driving company growth, which will be key in his Zags role where he will be responsible for the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy to support the company’s rapid expansion. Prior to joining Zags he most recently served as CFO at BA Insight, a provider of integrated search technologies. Traynor also served as the COO and CFO of Blue Flame Data, Inc., a provider of enterprise software used in customer preference analysis; and as CFO of Portero, a provider of Internet fulfillment services. Earlier in his career he was VP of Technology Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley and Associate of Financial Sponsor Banking at Bear Stearns. A native of Minneapolis, MN, Traynor holds a BSBA in finance and accounting from Washington University in St. Louis, a JD/MBA from the University of North Carolina, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Commenting on the Oshita and Traynor appointments, Olivier Jaillon, Zags founder and chief executive officer, said, “I am thrilled to announce the appointments of Yancy and Gary to the Zags executive team. Our move to the U.S., continued commitment to the North American market, and aggressive global plans to do things differently than other insurance solution providers requires the highest caliber resources. Both Yancy and Gary come to Zags with a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping young technology companies achieve great success.”

Jaillon continued, “I look forward to their leadership and contributions as we begin to shake things up in the insurance software industry to demonstrate that there is a better, different way – a collaborative approach in the vendor/insurer relationship as well as a collaborative approach in core insurance administration systems.”

Organizations planning enterprise data center consolidation and modernization projects are faced with a challenging, costly reality. Requirements to deploy modern, cloud-native applications simultaneously with traditional client/server applications are almost impossible to achieve with hardware-centric enterprise infrastructure. Compute and network infrastructure are fast moving down a software-defined path, but storage has been a laggard. Until now.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is at the core or many Digital Transformation initiatives with the goal of re-inventing a company's business model. We all agree that collecting relevant IoT data will result in massive amounts of data needing to be stored. However, with the rapid development of IoT devices and ongoing business model transformation, we are not able to predict the volume and growth of IoT data. And with the lack of IoT history, traditional methods of IT and infrastructure planning based on the past do not app...

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smart...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...

The Jevons Paradox suggests that when technological advances increase efficiency of a resource, it results in an overall increase in consumption. Writing on the increased use of coal as a result of technological improvements, 19th-century economist William Stanley Jevons found that these improvements led to the development of new ways to utilize coal. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Mark Thiele, Chief Strategy Officer for Apcera, compared the Jevons Paradox to modern-day enterprise IT, examin...

Major trends and emerging technologies – from virtual reality and IoT, to Big Data and algorithms – are helping organizations innovate in the digital era. While the focus and objectives of IoT initiatives are many and diverse, they all share a few common attributes, and one of those is the network. Commonly, that network includes the Internet, over which there isn't any real control for performance and availability. Or is there?
