New Online Marketplace Puts Creativity in the Hands of the Crowd

crowdSPRING Brings the Power of Choice to Individuals and Businesses and Creates a Community for Untapped Creative Talent

CHICAGO, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- crowdSPRING, the online marketplace for creative services, launched its site to the public today. crowdSPRING (http://www.crowdspring.com/) puts the power of crowdsourcing in the hands of individuals and businesses, giving them access to a largely untapped global pool of talent.

The explosion of "user generated content" - from Threadless and iStockPhoto to YouTube and even blogs - is proof positive that people are looking for outlets for their creative talent, whether it's graphic design, photography, video or copywriting. crowdSPRING is empowering this underground, underdog creative community and giving them yet another outlet for their creativity, while giving buyers a new way to purchase creative services on their own terms.

"When people buy art or music or movies, they see all the options available to them and then decide which they'd like to purchase. But the purchase of many other creative services has traditionally been a lot more risky," said Mike Samson, co-founder of crowdSPRING and a former Hollywood producer with credits including Third Watch and Bull Durham. "Buyers are asked to dig through portfolios, review past work and make a commitment before seeing the end product. crowdSPRING offers a better way. Buyers can now purchase the work they love at a price they set, without the risk."

By allowing designers, illustrators, writers and photographers - whether established professional or talented newcomer - to compete based solely on their creativity and the quality of their ideas instead of bids, proposals or portfolios, crowdSPRING levels competitive playing field for creative people worldwide. It also protects the intellectual property of all by offering completely free, customized written legal agreements for every transaction.

As part of its launch, crowdSPRING used its own marketplace to design its website. The company posted a project on their then-barren website asking creative people from around the world to contribute designs. Eighty individuals from dozens of countries submitted 337 designs. "We definitively proved the power of the crowdSPRING model," said Ross Kimbarovsky, co-founder of crowdSPRING and an intellectual property attorney with more than a decade of global experience. "We also showed that great creative talent exists in every corner of the world and comes from people you would never have guessed."
