SDForum Presents 'Cloud Computing and Beyond: The Web Grows Up (Finally)'

One-Day Conference Aims to Educate on the Controversies and Opportunities Associated with Cloud Computing

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- SDForum, Silicon Valley's leading source of information and education in the technology community, today announced their one day conference on "Cloud Computing and Beyond: The Web Grows Up (Finally)" to be held October 1, 2008 from 9:00am - 5:15pm at the Network Meeting Center in Santa Clara.

James Staten, Principal Analyst at Forrester Research, a leading expert on x86 servers and server infrastructure, data center and server futures, cloud computing and application-specific infrastructure trends and technologies, will deliver the opening keynote.

The burgeoning availability of computing resources "in the cloud" is transforming software development as much as any of the revolutions since computing's infancy. This daylong event will address the issues and controversies surrounding cloud computing, discuss the technologies and risks involved with cloud computing and enable attendees to explore what their company should do to take advantage of the ongoing Web revolution.

"Cloud computing is changing the game for startups and enterprises," said Lars Leckie, Principal at Hummer Winblad. "As always, SDForum is there to lead these organizations along the way with cutting edge events that bring the best minds of Silicon Valley together and address topics, like cloud computing, that are changing the face of technology today."

"Cloud computing is the next step in the evolution of Internet applications," said William Grosso, CTO of Twofish. "SDForum is once again helping facilitate an important conversation as we all try to understand how externalized infrastructure will impact the future of software development."

"Cloud computing offers new ways for companies of all sizes to redefine their markets and customer relationships," said Christine Crandell, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer at Egenera. "It delivers reliable, scaleable, flexible and cost effective computing when and where you need it. SDForum's conference is helping the market understand that cloud computing is not one size fits all and how to leverage it into ground floor opportunities."
