SYS-CON Events announced today that the leading global cloud computing technology provider 3Tera named "Silver Sponsor" of the upcoming Cloud Computing Conference & Expo, (www.cloudcomputingexpo.com) which will take place November 19-21, 2008, at the Fairmont Hotel in the heart of Silicon Valley, in San Jose, California.
3Tera is innovator of cloud and utility computing services simplifying the deployment and scaling of Web applications.3Tera's AppLogic grid OS enables true utility computing services to remove the cost and complexity associated with infrastructure, scaling and on-demand resource provisioning.
3Tera's Cloudware incorporates the fundamental building blocks used in developing today's most popular applications; storage and computing, software catalog, definition and control, plus how they all relate to each other. More importantly, the architecture is vendor agnostic so that third party vendors, not just 3tera, can participate in the system. The Cloudware architecture supports the most popular operating systems - Linux, Solaris and Windows - and is targeted toward clients who want to explore the extreme scale and flexibility of cloud computing infrastructures quickly and easily.
Cloudware will be rolled out in stages over the next twelve to twenty-four months, but much of the technology necessary to implement Cloudware has been proven in our AppLogicâ„¢ grid operating system over the past two years. Some of the upcoming features include adding support for Solaris and Windows to existing support for Linux; choice of multiple data centers worldwide, pre-built MySQL clusters, database replication appliances and NAS integration with third party storage solutions.

The future model for providing IT infrastructure and services in large organizations is what many today are calling "Cloud Computing" - a concept popularized by Amazon through its web services efforts.
Leading financial analysts for example reckon that by 2011 the volume of Cloud Computing market opportunity will amount to $160BN, including $95N in business and productivity apps (e-mail, office, CRM, etc.) and $65BN in online advertising.

Cloud Computing, through which massively scalable IT-related capabilities are provided as a service using Internet technologies, has many interpreters just now - and many interpretations. One thing is certain: it is the most dynamic new metaphor to hit enterprise computing since the creation of the "Web" by Tim Berners-Lee.
Forrester Research analyst James Staten calls cloud computing "classic disruptive innovation where the mainstream dismisses the product and small companies have time to create a real differentiated value." But there are so many offerings just now that what infrastructure architects are looking for above all is a set of organizing principles they can use to guide them in choosing between them all.
