SpringSource, the leader in enterprise Java, and the company behind Spring, will host SpringOne Europe, its fourth annual European developer conference, at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam, Netherlands on April 27-29, 2009. Drawing hundreds of attendees from 25 countries in 2008, SpringOne Europe is a one-of-a-kind event for application developers, solution architects and project managers who develop business applications with Spring and with the technologies that integrate with Spring, including Groovy, Grails and Apache Tomcat.
SpringSource and Trifork A/S are co-producing SpringOne Europe, creating Europe's premier conference showcasing the latest Spring developments and user case studies. The three-day conference is an opportunity for core Spring committers and customers to share insights on current development challenges and to demonstrate the latest advances in Spring technologies. As the company behind the conference, SpringSource is pleased to announce the participation of Accenture, Adobe, JetBrains, SkillsMatter and VMware as sponsors of the event.
Keynote sessions by Rod Johnson, the “creator and father of Spring,” and Adrian Colyer, the chief technology officer for SpringSource, will headline the conference. Additional sessions will be led by many of the core developers of Spring including Juergen Hoeller, Keith Donald, Rob Harrop, Arjen Poutsma, Christian Dupuis and Jeremy Grelle, among many others.
“In late 2008, VMware began working with SpringSource to provide a solution that streamlines enterprise Java development and helps to significantly reduce capital and operating expenses,” said Parag Patel, vice president, alliances, VMware. “Sponsoring and presenting at SpringOne Europe is another way in which VMware is supporting the Spring developer community and we are happy to provide the tools and services SpringSource needs to deliver robust virtualization solutions to its customers.”
“At SpringOne Americas in December 2008, we were pleased to announce an alliance with SpringSource that improved the integration between the Adobe® Flash® Platform and the Spring platform,” said Michele Turner, vice president, product marketing and developer relations for the Platform Business Unit at Adobe Systems. “We are excited to participate at this year’s SpringOne Europe as it demonstrates our continued global support for the Spring and Java developer communities by making it easier to create enterprise-class rich Internet applications using Adobe® Flex®, a cornerstone of the Adobe Flash Platform, and Spring.”
“SpringOne Europe promises to be an exciting forum for the global Spring developer community and will provide a chance for community members to collaborate and discuss best practices,” said Johnson. “We view SpringOne as an ideal gathering place and the premier event for the growing number of European developers using Spring technologies.”
Spring has transformed the enterprise Java landscape and become the most widely used enterprise Java application platform worldwide. Spring has been downloaded more than 5 million times and jobs listings requiring Spring expertise already exceed requirements for Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere and Enterprise JavaBean™ experience. Apache Tomcat is the world’s most popular application server. According to a recent extensive Evans Data research study, nearly 70 percent of respondents reported that Tomcat is in production within their organizations.
