Emerging Growth Company BLADE Network Technologies to Showcase Its Disruptive Cloud Ready Network Architecture at Launch: Silicon Valley 2009

BLADE's Cloud Ready Network Architecture Innovations Include the First 1,000 Virtual Port Network Switch, First FCoE-Ready Network Switch and First 10G Ethernet Switch That Consumes Less Power Than Two Light Bulbs

SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/08/09 -- BLADE Network Technologies, Inc. (BLADE), the trusted leader in data center networking, will showcase its disruptive Cloud Ready Network Architecture for the virtualized data center at Launch: Silicon Valley 2009. This Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs (SVASE) event features a selected group of emerging technology companies, and will be held Tuesday, June 9, at the Microsoft Campus in Mountain View, Calif.

At Launch: Silicon Valley, Dan Tuchler, BLADE's vice president of Strategy and Product Management, will describe BLADE's new Cloud Ready Network Architecture and mention some of the company's new products that exemplify this architecture. These products include: the industry's first 1,000 virtual-port network switch for the HP BladeSystem and IBM BladeCenter, the first Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) (100 Gigabit uplink) blade server switch and the BLADE RackSwitch data center switch that consumes less power than two light bulbs. In his presentation, Dan Tuchler will focus on the company's new 1,000 virtual-port VMready(TM) switch as it embodies criteria that are required for virtualized data centers to identify, manage and leverage virtual assets.

BLADE's Cloud Ready Network Architecture is based upon five key criteria that BLADE believes are essential for today's dynamic and virtualized data centers to deliver cloud-based services more affordably, easily and efficiently, while reducing power consumption and protecting infrastructure investment.

These five criteria for today's cloud computing environments include:

-- High-bandwidth/low-latency (low-delay) networks
-- Convergence to Ethernet
-- Agile networks for virtual workloads
-- Scalable management
-- Advanced energy efficiency

"BLADE's industry-leading portfolio of Ethernet switches are used by more than 300 of Fortune 500 companies, and our Cloud Ready Network Architecture is extending the performance and capabilities of data center networks enabling enterprises to deliver Web 2.0, video-on-demand, streaming broadcast, VoIP, financial services and other cloud computing applications," said Dan Tuchler, vice president of Strategy and Product Management, BLADE Network Technologies. "Everyone is talking about the cloud, because it allows companies and consumers to access new services more cost-effectively. However, delivering these services in a way that not only does not burden the virtualized data center, but also empowers it, is what BLADE's Cloud Ready Network Architecture and innovative networking products are all about."

"We're delighted to be among such a select group of startup and emerging growth technology companies at Launch: Silicon Valley," said Vikram Mehta, president and CEO, BLADE Network Technologies. "For BLADE to have achieved a 2x market share lead over Cisco in blade server networking through our partnerships with global OEMs such as HP and IBM, as well as reaching a dominant position in 10G Ethernet switches after only one venture funding round, is a testament to the hard work of BLADErs who are passionately focused on exceeding customer expectations. We're gratified that both our business model -- that of providing open, best-of-breed, networking solutions for data centers versus proprietary and vendor lock-in approaches, and our truly innovative Cloud Ready Network Architecture and the products based upon it, have been noticed by the technology and investment industry leaders organizing this prestigious event."

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
