Virtualization Conference & Expo To Feature EMC's Jeff Nick As Opening Keynote Presenter
Virtualization Conference & Expo is the leading event covering the booming market of Virtualization for the enterprise

Jeff Nick, SVP and CTO of EMC, will be delivering the June 26 Main Keynote at SOA World Conference & Expo 2007, which is colocating with Virtualization Conference & Expo 2007 at The Roosevelt Hotel, New York City, 25-27 June, 2007. "The confluence of several mature architectural paradigms with new user-centric paradigms will drive the next generation of IT," explains Nick.

"Next generation IT," he continues, "will be based on the combination of model-driven architecture and service-oriented architecture applied to applications, information delivery, and IT resources alike."

"The agility gained in IT infrastructure coupled with highly configurable, lightweight, 'last mile' visualization technologies will dramatically increase the relevance and reactivity of IT to the business. By applying these architectures, technologies and open standards to the problems faced by IT we can focus on qualities of service delivery of IT in support of business value."
At the end of keynote presentation by the CTO of EMC, "Services Oriented Infrastructure in a Web 2.0, Virtualized World," delegates will understand the impact of service orientation on IT infrastructure; they will also understand the relevant architectures, technologies and standards.

Nick joined EMC in September 2004 from IBM, where he held the distinguished title of IBM Fellow, the highest technical honor that IBM bestows on its IT innovators. During his 24-year career with IBM, he filed more than 80 inventions and holds more than 50 U.S. patents in computer systems technology. Most recently, he was vice president, Architecture and Design, eBusiness On Demand, responsible for the design and architecture of IBM's On Demand initiative.

He also led IBM's Grid Computing strategy, responsible for the definition and evolution of IBM's Open Grid Services Architecture.

Nick began his IBM career as a software engineer focusing on the System 390 MVS operating system, and he eventually became the lead architect for the S/390 z-series platform and eServer initiative. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marist College with a B.S. in finance.

Virtualization Conference & Expo (www.virtualizationconference.com) will take place on June 25-27, 2007, at the historic Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. The event is expected to attract over 1,000 developers, architects, IT managers, and software professionals of every stripe who will be converging in New York City to attend the first comprehensive meeting on Virtualization.

Virtualization Conference & Expo is sponsored by SYS-CON’s “Virtualization Journal” (www.virtualization.sys-con.com).

Virtualization Conference & Expo is the leading event covering the booming market of Virtualization for the enterprise, with experts on server, storage, application and desktop technologies. The conference will contain multiple sessions on how to improve application efficiency and lower costs by leveraging network and computing resources. Combined with SOA, Virtualization will help you take your applications and platforms to the next level.

At the first international Virtualization Conference & Expo, you will hear from industry experts already out in the field on how to use Virtualization to increase uptime; accelerate storage and application speed; lower costs, improve utilization; and make your infrastructure strong, flexible and secure.

“Today, Virtualization is in the forefront - helping businesses with scalability, security and management of their global IT infrastructure,” said Miles Silverman, vice president of sales and marketing at SYS-CON Media. “The first annual Virtualization Conference & Expo, together with the Virtualization Journal, endeavors to provide IT professionals with the knowledge and skills required to derive maximum benefits from this efficient approach to computing.”

Reaching Beyond Physical IT: Explore the Power of Virtualization in Enterprise Computing
As today's CIOs and IT managers rise to the challenge of using their enterprise computing infrastructure as cost-effectively as possible while remaining responsive in supporting new business initiatives and flexible in adapting to organizational changes, Virtualization has become more and more important.

A fundamental technological innovation that allows skilled IT managers to deploy creative solutions to such business challenges, Virtualization is a methodology whose time has come. The fast-emerging age of Grid Computing is enabling the virtualization of distributed computing, of IT resources such as storage, bandwidth, and CPU cycles. But Virtualization can also apply to a range of system layers, including hardware-level virtualization, operating system level virtualization, and high-level language virtual machines.

In short, Virtualization is fast becoming a key requirement for every server in the data center, enabling workloads such as server consolidation, efficient software development and testing, resource management for dynamic data centers, application re-hosting and compatibility, and high-availability partitions.

Virtualization Conference & Expo will be the leading event covering the booming market of Virtualization for the enterprise.

Topics will include:
               Hosted Virtualization
               Para-virtualization
               Virtualization Hardware Support
               Hardware-level Virtualization
               Storage Virtualization
Virtualization for Server Consolidation and Containment
               Desktop Virtualization
               Windows Virtualization
               Utility Computing

The “Call for Papers” is now open at the conference Website.
